🚨 Insurance & Accident Procedure

🛡️ Insurance Coverage

All our vehicles are covered by a Rent-a-Car Insurance Policy in Sri Lanka.

However, vehicle repairs, spare parts, and labour costs in Sri Lanka are very expensive due to import duties, taxes, and VAT.

🚨 In the Event of an Accident or Damage

If the vehicle is involved in any accident, collision, theft, vandalism, or damage, the renter MUST:

✅ Contact the Insurance Hotline immediately from the accident location.

✅ Report the incident at the exact time and location where it occurred.

📞 The Insurance Hotline number is printed on the back of the Insurance Card kept inside the vehicle.

⚠️ Failure to report the incident immediately may result in the insurance claim being rejected.

📄 Insurance Claims

All claims are subject to the insurance company's investigation and approval in accordance with their policy terms and conditions.

Insurance approval is not guaranteed, and any rejected claim or breach of policy conditions will be the renter's responsibility.

💰 Additional Charges

Even if the insurance claim is approved, the renter may still be responsible for:

🚚 Towing charges

🚗 Loss of rental income (idle/garage days while the vehicle is under repair)

❌ Any expenses not covered by the insurance policy

These charges may apply regardless of whether the accident was caused by the renter or a third party.

⚠️ If the Insurance Claim Is Rejected

If the renter fails to follow the above procedure, or if the insurance company rejects the claim due to the renter's actions or negligence, the renter shall be fully responsible for:

🔧 100% of the vehicle repair costs

🚗 Loss of rental income (idle/garage days)

🚚 Towing and recovery charges

💵 Any other costs or damages not covered by the insurance policy

✅ Drive Safely

Driving License – Important Notice 🇱🇰

To legally drive in Sri Lanka, you must have either:

✅ A valid Sri Lankan Driving Licence, or

✅ A Temporary Driving Permit issued by the Department of Motor Traffic (DMT), or

✅ An International Driving Permit (IDP) endorsed by the Automobile Association of Ceylon (AA Ceylon).

⚠️ Important: Your home country's driving licence must be valid for at least 12 months from the date of application to be eligible for a Temporary Driving Permit.

The Temporary Driving Permit can be obtained from the DMT counter at Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) upon arrival (subject to DMT requirements).

Please note that any other driving licence or permit is not legally accepted for driving in Sri Lanka.

This requirement is governed by Sri Lanka's Motor Traffic Act (Chapter 203) and regulations issued by the Department of Motor Traffic.
